Yungblud has released a powerful new single titled ‘Zombie’, accompanied by a poignant music video starring actor Florence Pugh. The heartfelt rock ballad serves as the newest glimpse into ‘Idols’, the first installment of Yungblud’s forthcoming double album set for release on June 20.

The track, which Yungblud (real name Dominic Harrison) first performed during a small show at London’s Scala in March, draws on personal themes. He revealed that the song reflects his struggles with body dysmorphia and eating disorders, focusing on the pain of feeling unattractive and learning how to cope with that internal battle.

Harrison shared that ‘Zombie’ was originally inspired by his grandmother’s experience with severe trauma, which altered her personality. He described the song as expressing a sense of decay and isolation, where people close themselves off from others out of fear of being a burden. He also conveyed a desire for unconditional comfort, while acknowledging how frightening that vulnerability can be.

The track features orchestration from the London Philharmonic Orchestra, adding to its emotional weight.

Florence Pugh, known for her roles in Oppenheimer and We Live in Time, plays a healthcare worker grappling with grief and emotional burnout in the music video. The visual is set to premiere at 4pm BST on May 30, following teasers and preview clips shared by Yungblud on social media.

‘Zombie’ follows previously released singles ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’ and ‘Lovesick Lullaby’, both of which appear on ‘Idols’—an album Yungblud has described as his most ambitious to date. It marks his first full-length project since his 2022 self-titled album.

Yungblud’s Upcoming Shows and Commitment to Affordable Music

In addition to the new release, Yungblud recently announced a short series of intimate UK shows under the banner ‘Idols – Up Close And Personal’. These will take place after the return of BludFest on June 21 in Milton Keynes and before his headline tour across North America and Europe.

To celebrate the release of ‘Lovesick Lullaby’, he previously bartended at The Hawley Arms—his favourite London pub—personally serving drinks to fans. He also recently addressed the rising cost of live music events, saying he strongly agreed that ticket prices had become excessive. As part of his efforts to keep live music accessible, he confirmed that BludFest 2 tickets would be capped at £65, stressing the importance of affordability for fans.

Harrison reiterated his belief that as long as someone follows their purpose with sincerity and passion, there are no limits to what can be achieved.
